- It is not something relegated to HR
- It is not a slogan hanging on a wall
- It is not a seasonal campaign
What a Higher Purpose Is
- When done well, it is something that gives meaning to everyone’s job
- It must be lived and modelled right from the C Suite to be believed
- All employees should be given an opportunity to support the Higher Purpose on company time - i.e paid
- It should be something that is aligned with the core competency of the business Eg. - the financial sector helping people build more sound and sustainable businesses
- the health care sector supporting the wellness of their customers
- the food services sector helping to reduce food waste and promote healthy eating
- all businesses can find a niche that’s aligned with their core competencies
